"If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality." --Bishop Desmond Tutu

Hoisted on their own reactionary petard!

As the deal to rescue the markets unraveled, Paulson made a desperate appeal to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (on bended knee no less!)

In the Roosevelt Room after the session, the Treasury secretary, Henry M. Paulson Jr., literally bent down on one knee as he pleaded with Nancy Pelosi, the House Speaker, not to “blow it up” by withdrawing her party’s support for the package over what Ms. Pelosi derided as a Republican betrayal.

“I didn’t know you were Catholic,” Ms. Pelosi said, a wry reference to Mr. Paulson’s kneeling, according to someone who observed the exchange. She went on: “It’s not me blowing this up, it’s the Republicans.”

Mr. Paulson sighed. “I know. I know.”

The Republicans broke the economy and now they don't want to fix it? We have to endure their insufferable internal squabbling over the ideology of regulation versus no regulation? I can only hope that these bums all get what's coming to them.
