"If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality." --Bishop Desmond Tutu

IDIOCRACY ALERT: New Law in California!

Apparently we have become so stupid as a nation (or at least as the most populous state in the Union) that we need to be told by Government that it's a bad idea to send text messages while driving. Uhhh, what? We need a freakin' law for this? Well, apparently so.
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed a bill Wednesday that will prohibit California drivers from text messaging beginning Jan. 1. He signed Senate Bill 28, authored by Joe Simitian, D-Palo Alto, that bans the use of an electronic wireless communications device to write, send, or read a text-based communication while driving a motor vehicle. There will be a fine of $20 for a first offense and $50 for each subsequent offense.
Frankly, in this writer's humble opinion, the penalty should be immediate execution by the officer who pulled the moron over. "Sorry, sir. You're done. ."
