"If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality." --Bishop Desmond Tutu

Is Osama bin Laden now winning?

Remember this guy??? The one we didn't get, Senator McCain?

Well, back in 2004, Osama bin Laden said his goal was "to bankrupt the US." He wanted to do this by dragging us into an unwinnable war just like the Russians in the 1980s and drain our resources to the point that our economy collapsed. Uhhh, hello? Isn't that what's happening now? Shouldn't some of the blame for our situation be laid at the feet of the Bush administration who squandered nearly $1 trillion taxpayer dollars in a "quagmire?"

"We are continuing this policy in bleeding America to the point of bankruptcy. Allah willing, and nothing is too great for Allah," bin Laden said in the transcript.

He said the mujahedeen fighters did the same thing to the Soviet Union in Afghanistan in the 1980s, "using guerrilla warfare and the war of attrition to fight tyrannical superpowers."

"We, alongside the mujahedeen, bled Russia for 10 years until it went bankrupt and was forced to withdraw in defeat," bin Laden said.

It's amazing what short memories we have. Bin Laden went on to say

"Every dollar of al Qaeda defeated a million dollars, by the permission of Allah, besides the loss of a huge number of jobs," he said. "As for the economic deficit, it has reached record astronomical numbers estimated to total more than a trillion dollars.

The total U.S. national debt is more than $7 trillion. The U.S. federal deficit was $413 billion in 2004, according to the Treasury Department.

20 guys armed with nothing but box cutters took down the greatest economy in the history of the world. Well, 20 guys with box cutters and a President whose gross incompetence and mismanagement of our nations affairs killed us.
