"If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality." --Bishop Desmond Tutu

Wormhole to the right

Apparently, the Right in this country no longer share the same space-time continuum the rest of us on planet Earth do. Feast your eyes on this piece of idiocy from the National Review
If Obama is elected in November, at G7 meetings, for the first time since they began, America will have a more left-wing leader than any other member of the group - Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Japan, and Britain (and that's before Gordon Brown loses to David Cameron). Right-of-center government throughout the western world - except Washington.
Last time I checked, France's President Sarkozy was advocating "regulated capitalism" for the world. Not to mention that all of these countries have some form of nationalized healthcare, strong trade and labor unions as well as extensive social security programs to protect their citizens. They all ban guns in one form or another.

I think what this demonstrates is how far to the right wing our national dialog has slid over the past 20 years. To call Obama a "liberal" is an insult to us liberals. He's a left-leaning moderate centrist at best. The only old-school liberal on the stump right now is Ralph Nader. And ain't nobody voting for him.
